How stress can affect your heart.

Besides the negative impact that stress has on health, does it also influence the functioning of the heart? The truth is that the fast pace of life, daily pressures, and constant worries can directly influence cardiovascular health.

When we experience stress, our brain interprets the situation as threatening, leading to the release of various chemicals and hormones, such as adrenaline, cortisol, and norepinephrine.

These hormones work together in the cardiovascular system, resulting in the contraction of arteries, increased blood pressure, and an increased heart rate.

Adrenaline, for example, increases heart rate and blood pressure. This increase can lead to a heart attack and, in extreme cases, can be fatal.

Another hormone, cortisol, released during times of stress, can also have dangerous effects on people with existing cardiovascular disease.

It is important to recognize that these stress hormones affect the heart muscle, influencing its contractions and relaxations. As the heart goes through these cycles repeatedly, the efficiency of this system decreases.

Therefore, if very stressful situations persist, it is best to seek medical help.
