In 2003, the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) and the World Health Organization (WHO) designated September 10th as the official DAY FOR SUICIDE PREVENTION.
In Brazil, the Yellow September campaign has been organized since 2014 by the Brazilian Association of Psychiatry (ABP) and the Federal Council of Medicine (CFM).
Both initiatives aim to raise public awareness of risk factors, warning signs, and how the problem should be discussed year-round, as well as to encourage the adoption of strategies to address the cause.
According to the WHO, more than 700,000 people die by suicide annually worldwide, making it the fourth leading cause of death among young people aged 15 to 29.
Approximately 96.8% of suicide cases were related to mental disorders, with depression being the most prevalent.
Pay attention to the warning signs and ask for help!
