São Judas Materiais Médicos was present during the implantation of the Enitra 8 pacemaker model, from Biotronik, which took place in a pioneering way in the North and Northeast of Brazil. The procedure, which lasted two hours, took place in the hemodynamics sector of Hospital Rio Grande, in Natal, and was performed on a 79-year-old patient by the team of Dr. Jean Alberty de Moura and Dr. Emerson Ursulino de Sena, with preceptorship from Dr. Evilásio Leobino (Fortaleza/CE).
The director of São Judas Materiais Médicos and company representative at the event, Gustavo Barros, emphasized the importance of the moment: “We are making history here in the distribution of medical supplies throughout Brazil, and especially in the North and Northeast. This is the first Enitra, a pacemaker for physiological stimulation, a physiological beam stimulation device, being proudly implanted here in Natal, where our company headquarters are located. The surgery was a success, everything went smoothly and, most importantly for us, it benefited the patient.”
For the medical team that performed the surgery, the Biotronik Enitra-8 pacemaker meets a need of cardiac patients: to make the heart rhythm closer to natural. “Previously, we offered the benefit of pacemaker implantation to restore the number of heartbeats, but we caused a certain degree of dyssynchrony in the heart, deviating from the normal electrical system. With this new stimulation modality, we return to focusing attention on the main actor, which is the normal conduction system,” explains Dr. Evilásio Leobino.
“There are many cases of patients who also have heart failure who benefit greatly from this type of stimulation because, instead of stimulating just one point in the heart, you are targeting the entire electrical system and stimulating millions of points, making it possible for us to achieve a more effective contraction and thus benefit the dynamics and functioning of the heart,” adds Dr. Evilásio.
A better quality of life is one of the main results for patients using the device, as reported by Dr. Jean Alberty de Moura. “With this new stimulation modality, we are increasingly achieving this physiological stimulation.
